MONTREAL – The Common Front Union has rejected the Quebec government’s latest contract offer, saying they will plan more strike days.

Union members were making noise early Friday morning during a demonstration downtown on Sherbrooke Street, near Stanley Street.

It was held outside the Mount Royal Club from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m., where Treasury Board President Martin Coiteux was expected to speak.

The meeting was cancelled.

Coiteux is responsible for Quebec’s purse strings.

Unions across Quebec have been negotiating new contracts for public sector workers for months.

The Quebec government had offered a three per cent salary increase over five years, while workers insisted on a 13.5 per cent increase over three years.
