Police seek suspect after woman tackled, sexually assaulted at Langstaff GO station

TORONTO —; Police in York Region are looking for help in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with a sexual assault that occurred at the Langstaff GO station in Richmond Hill Thursday afternoon.

Police said a 24-year-old woman was walking towards a bus platform on the pedestrian walkway, below the Highway 7 bridge in the Yonge Street and Highway 7 area, at about 2:30 p.m. when a man ran up behind her, tackled her to the ground and climbed on top of her.

The suspect then allegedly asked the woman to have sex with him.

Police said the woman then fought off the suspect, scratching his face in the process, before he rose to his feet and ran from the area.

The woman sustained minor  injuries and surveillance images of the suspect have been released by investigators.

The suspect is described by police as a black man, aged 18 to 25 years old, standing about 5’5″ with a heavy build, black hair with a hi-top fade cut, facial hair, wearing a black shirt, black pants and carrying a red beige single strap knapsack.

Anyone with information is asked to call the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit or Crime Stoppers.
