CALGARY – Police have released video of a violent robbery at a southeast Calgary business that left two people injured.

It happened at the Action Hobby Canada Ltd. located in the 7000 block of Ogden Road S.E. just after 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Police said two men approached the cash desk with two items which they indicated they wanted to buy. However, as the storeowner began the transaction, the men grabbed the merchandise and dashed toward the door.

CCTV surveillance of the incident released by police on Friday shows the storeowner grabbing one suspect in an attempt to stop him from leaving the store.

According to investigators, the storeowner and his wife, as well as a few customers, chased the suspects into the parking lot where a struggle ensued.

“The struggle resulted in the male storeowner being thrown to the ground by one of the suspects and the female storeowner being pulled over a nearby fence by the other,” said police in a news release.

Both the storeowner and his wife were injured.

The suspects managed to get away and drive off in a newer model, silver Jeep Grand Cherokee that was parked in the alley behind the store.

The first suspect is described as 25 to 30-years-old, approximately 6’ to 6’3” tall, 180 to 200 lbs. with a slim build. He was wearing a light grey or blue sweater with a black hoodie underneath and a black Nike ball cap with the hood pulled over it. His face had pock marks on it.

The second suspect is described as having a darker complexion and being 25 to 30-years-old, approximately 6’ tall and 200 to 210 lbs., with a husky build. He was wearing a black rain jacket with light-coloured patterns and a black ball cap with the jacket hood overtop.

Anyone with information about the incident or the suspects is asked to call police or contact Crime Stoppers.
